Originally scheduled to be released on April 20, Rajkummar Rao’s Omerta has been moved to May 4, as the Central Board of Film Certification was yet to clear it. The movie is based on the life of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh (played by Rao), a British-Pakistani terrorist who was involved in the kidnapping of four tourists in Delhi and the kidnapping and murder of journalist Daniel Pearl in Pakistan.

The film has already been screened at various film festivals like the Hong Kong International Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, and received a favourable response from them.

Rao has been serving hit after hit recently, his film Newton was India’s official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 2018 Oscars, so one can expect him to shine in Omerta as well. But, since there are now two weeks for the release of the highly anticipated film, here are some of his other commendable performances for you to acquaint yourself with before the Hansal Mehta-directed film hits the screens.

Based on the life of Subhas Chandra Bose (played by Rao) and the mystery of his alleged death, this is a historical period drama web series.

Based on a true story, this movie is an account of the human rights lawyer Shahid Azmi, who was assassinated in 2010.

A short film written and directed by Shlok Sharma, the film is about the frailty of belief systems and unpredictability of human nature.

CityLights follows Rao as he plays a family man that is led into unfavourable circumstances due to poverty and debt.
